Roommates by chance, friends by choice! We can't think of anything better than living with a best friend, and so it goes for Sophia van Bragt and Mette Høgh. Balancing each other out with their differences and sharing a profound level of communication as great friends are apt to do – these two social media darlings are so in sync it's only a matter of time before they finish each other's sentences! Creating a chill environment has come naturally to them too, so whether it's peaceful Friday evenings spent knitting at home, impromptu sing-alongs, considering a career in law enforcement, or attending events together and meeting new people, Sophia and Mette share their life in the most easy and complementary way.

For those who don't know you, how would you like to introduce yourself?
Together: If we were to describe ourselves together, it would probably be as smiling, happy, and goofy! People also think we’re very serious and proper, haha. But we also have a calm relationship, where we’re both down-to-earth – kind of like our safe space! We quicklyconnected and realized we could have pretty serious conversations – without it revolving around going out or drinking – but instead, we could talk on a deeper level.
Mette: I’m a mix of introvert and extrovert – I love being social and spend most of my time out, but I recharge when I'm alone. I’ve got a strong drive and determination, and I enjoy meeting new people and being active. I’m really relaxed around my close relationships, though, and I love staying as active as I can. I often have a lot on my plate with different projects going on, and I’m not always great at saying no to things.
Sophia: I think we're pretty different. When I’m alone, I’m really down-to-earth, and I need people around me to recharge my energy, since I tend to run low when I’m by myself. In that way, we’re complete contrasts, but I think that’s what makes us work so well together. I guess I’m a bit grandma-like, haha – I enjoy spending Friday nights at home, knitting and just relaxing.
How did you two meet, and how did it lead to becoming roommates?
Mette: I do a lot of things! I work with social media, and at a coffee shop, where I’m currently in the workshop because I’m helping to build a new café. I also work on my own little passion project, which I run with my friend. It’s a training community where we hold two events each month. We’re trying to promote a healthy culture, but also create a community where everyone feels welcome and where we can try new things together. And on top of that, I work as a community and event specialist for a sunglasses brand. I have many dreams, but professionally, my biggest one right now is to build our new business around training and events. Training is something I’m really passionate about, and I want to share that passion with others and help them experience the joy of it.
Sophia: Professionally, I work full-time in social media, and it works really well for me because I’m someone who thrives on working when I have the energy. We have different drives, and I really enjoy taking time to recharge. I love the freedom my job gives me. I mainly focus on beauty, and it just felt like the natural path for me in this industry. I dream of starting my own brand or doing a collaboration with a bigger beauty brand. I feel like you grow a lot in this industry, especially on a personal level, in ways you never expect.

How would you say that you have created a home together where both of you feel at home? What atmosphere and decor did you want to create in your home?
Together: Calm is the core element!
Sophia: We’ve always said that it feels like ‘home’ as soon as we walk through the door. Mette and I have talked about it a lot because I come from a background where we moved around a lot. So, I’ve always struggled to feel like a place is truly ‘home’ – like it’s finally settled. And I’m not sure if I’ll ever feel that way, since I’ve moved so much. Mette, on the other hand, brought a lot of things from her previous apartment, which helped create that ‘home’ feeling much faster.
Mette: For me, the feeling of ‘home’ is also about feeling comfortable, not so much about the furniture, but about being able to feel at home in each other’s company. Something that has been really important for us is having our own ‘space’ where we can retreat and recharge. I think we’ve been really good at giving each other space, and we have a deep understanding of that.Sophia:I completely agree, but we’ve also been good at prioritizing spending time together and relaxing on the sofa, which we’ve done a lot!
We know you'll be living apart soon — what have been the highlights of sharing a place together?
Mette: We have the same taste in music, and just before you arrived, we were having a sing-along, haha. We love Danish pop and soft tunes, and it’s something I’ll always look back on with so many great memories. And of course, the sofa – it’s truly been our favorite spot in the apartment. We’ve spent almost all our time together here at home, just relaxing on the sofa!
Sophia: It’s also about being part of each other’s daily lives in a different way, like coming home and catching up after a day. It’s that feeling of returning to family. But thankfully, we’re still close and just a phone call away.
Mette: And I’m definitely going to miss Sophia’s wardrobe, haha!

Sophia: Inspired – that’s the thing that makes me the happiest to hear, that people get that from my profile.

Mette: We love how the MAGMA sofa has a soft appearance yet still a bit of an edge, which really drew us in. Overall, it was the shape that stood out to us, and we were both immediately on the same page about the Bouclé fabric — it creates a great contrast with the design.
