Jun Andersen, a model and devoted creative with Japanese roots, serves as the art director at Narrow Creative and co-owns 9tseven, a Copenhagen-based brand and community dedicated to promoting mental well-being and active lifestyles – values that are deeply important to Jun in both his work and daily life. Over the past year, Jun moved in with his girlfriend in a flat nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Nørrebro. Together they’ve created a home that reflects their shared love for design, integrating inspiration from their Japanese and Iranian heritages.
For those who don't know you, would you like to introduce yourself?
My name is Jun Andersen, and I’m half Danish, half Japanese. I was born in Japan and moved to Denmark with my family in 1997. Today, I’m the creative director and co-founder of 9T7.
What environment did you grow up in and how has it shaped you, your vision and your goals today?
I grew up in Denmark and in a small town called Jyllinge. I grew up in a great environment with calm surroundings and a loving family. I remember growing up in Jyllinge I had a period of not feeling like I was fitting in. Due to my looks, my name, and my background, I felt different. I remember I even wanted to change my name to Mathias. As I grew older I started to embrace my differences and this opened up a whole new world for me. It has shaped my perspective, how I see myself, how I view the world, my curiosity, and being open-minded to differences & cultures.
You have many irons in the fire - what drives you?
To do something I love, with passion, and with people I admire, is what drives me. I love to create, create experiences, visual experiences, human experiences, stories, products, you name it. I love to create. It's my job to find ways for me to create and express myself
You recently moved in with your girlfriend - how would you say you create a home together, blending both your and your partner’s things to build a home together where both of you feel at home?
This is our first time moving in together, so it’s been important for us to redefine what 'our' home means. Since we both have strong ideas about how home should look and feel like, open communication has been essential in creating a space that feels right for both of us.
How is you and your partner’s different heritages expressed in your home? What atmosphere and décor did you want to create in your home?
We want to create a space that reflects both of our heritages. Anita is from Iran, so we're trying to blend the Scandinavian aesthetic with elements from my Japanese and her Iranian cultures. Most importantly, we want to build a home that shows both of our personalities.
